For more than 25 years, Chandler House has provided compassionate, specialized care for individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias in a true home-like setting. As part of the CRH Northwest family and still family-owned today, we have remained deeply committed to supporting both residents and their families with dignity, warmth, and genuine connection.

Our Story

Chandler House was established in 1998 as Yakima’s first facility solely dedicated to memory care. At a time when options for dementia care were limited, we pioneered a new approach — one that prioritized a true home environment over an institutional one. All rooms are private and thoughtfully decorated to feel personal and familiar. Reassuring sounds, comforting scents, and familiar routines are intentionally woven into daily life because we understand how profoundly these elements support residents living with memory loss.

Our Approach

At the heart of everything we do is relationship-based care. We take the time to know each resident as an individual — their history, preferences, and what brings them comfort and joy. Our team delivers personalized care with patience, respect, and warmth, always honoring the dignity of every person we serve. Whether supporting daily routines, managing complex medical needs, or providing hospice care, we focus on enhancing quality of life in a calm, secure, and nurturing environment.

What Sets Us Apart

  • Specialized Memory Care & Hospice Expertise — From day one, we have focused exclusively on the unique needs of those with Alzheimer’s and related dementias, offering both long-term memory care and compassionate hospice support when needed.
  • Higher Staffing Ratios — We maintain strong staffing levels with multiple full-time nurses on-site and a dedicated team of trained caregivers, allowing for attentive, responsive care and meaningful daily interactions.
  • Secure, Comfortable Home-Like Environment — Designed to look and feel like a real home, our community features private rooms, beautifully landscaped outdoor spaces, and 24/7 supervision in a safe, wander-friendly setting.
  • Meaningful Daily Activities — A full-time Life Enrichment Coordinator creates personalized activities based on each resident’s lifelong interests — including music, gardening, art, games, movies, and gentle movement — helping to spark joy, preserve identity, and promote engagement.
  • Strong Family Support — We partner closely with families, providing regular communication, education, and emotional support so loved ones feel informed, involved, and at peace.

All meals are home-cooked and served in a warm, interactive family-style setting that encourages connection and appetite. Every detail — from the environment to the activities to the level of personal attention — is thoughtfully designed to help residents feel safe, valued, and at home.

At Chandler House, we don’t just provide care. We create a place where residents and families can continue to experience comfort, connection, and meaningful moments together.

Resident care is our first priority. Our staff has dedicated themselves to understanding what life is like for someone who has dementia. The staff has completed specialized training, not only to deal with the confusion associated with the disease, but also the importance of listening to each resident.

We know that dealing with our residents can be a delicate task, so all our staff is carefully chosen and trained for their compassion and commitment.
